The styles shown here are done from pieces that were designed to allow updos or from medium to longer length pieces that can be used for updos. To learn how to style updos, go to the "Updos Styling" article. Some of the pieces shown there are what we call "convertible", that is they look good up or down. Those that are not "convertible" generally look best in the type of style they were created for, updos.
